Stonehenge is a well-known monument that has fascinated me for years. The who, what and why of it occasionally cause the firing of my brain synapses to go into overdrive. I'm not alone, for ages people have speculated about the origin and purpose of Stonehenge. Some of the more colorful theories I've encountered over the years are; that aliens built Stonehenge (strong astronomical ties), or the stones were purchased by the devil from an Irish woman and then brought to what we know as Wiltshire, England and even that it was constructed by King Arthur's Merlin!
